Fine Tune Your Painting Skills with
Douglas E. Winters III of SkyPony Studios

Douglas Winters and Kiki Curry recently opened SkyPony Studios in affiliation with the Gallery at MIDTOWN community art center. Perusing their retail location, you’ll find handmade jewelry, stationery, custom clothing and high end prints, as well as fine art paintings. On any given evening, you will find Doug at his easel in front of SkyPony studios, creating original works of art.

Douglas Winters is known within the Dallas art community as an extremely detailed fine art painter, executing a time consuming process of in depth under layering combined with pointillism. Douglas brings precision and perspective to his works in ways that inspire and amaze.

MIDTOWN Arts Academy is excited and proud to welcome Douglas as he teaches our “Painting Skyscapes in Acrylic” this September. Douglas will show how to create a variety of sky scenes ranging from realistic to luminous. Rendering sky scenes is an important skill for any painter working with scenes that reflect a nature context.

Auction pieces include the halter of Gangbuster, who ran in The Breederʼs Cup, and an autographed bottle of Gray Goose Vodka. In addition several autographed photographic prints by jockeys, trainers and owner of The Breederʼs Cup Turf Sprint champion, Chamberlain Bridge, and retired winner Zenyatta. Kiki Curry will have an original piece up for auction. Sales from donated auction items will benefit Remember Me Rescue.

Project 7x7 is a collaboration between seven artists from different styles & backgrounds. The idea is to create seven fine art pieces between seven artists in seven working days each. Each of the seven pieces will be a timed, rotational collaboration between all seven artists.

The inspiration behind Project 7x7 is the challenge that each collaboration provides to both the established and emerging artists. This project gives each artist an unique experience that allows them to provide the inspiration to a piece, build upon other artists' work, and to curate the final product.
